RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. - Eisenhower Medical Center and 37 other local charities are once again beneficiaries of the Bob Hope Classic. The $1.5 million in proceeds from the 2004 event will be distributed to the listed Coachella Valley charities. Since the inception of the tournament in 1960 the Classic's charitable donations total $40,258,639.
Jay Haas winner of the Classic in 1988 and runner up the past two years, will represent the PGA TOUR players at the ceremony and distribute the checks.
"The Bob Hope Classic exists to support the charities of the Coachella Valley in their work offering help to the needy and less fortunate, said Bob Brennan, immediate past president and the Funds Distribution committee chairman. "Today makes all the work that goes into organizing the Classic all the more meaningful."
John Evenson, 2005 Tournament President added, "We fully recognize, however, that a significant measure of our success in assisting our desert charities is through the magnificent support we receive from our long time sponsor, and dedicated volunteers.
The funds distribution ceremony was attended by members of the recipients listed to the right along with Supervisor Roy Wilson and representatives from the offices of Congresswoman Mary Bono, State Senators Jim Battin and Denise Ducheny, Assemblyman John Benoit and Assembly- woman Bonnie Garcia.
Representatives from the cities of Coachella, Desert Hot Springs, Indian Wells, Indio, La Quinta, Palm Desert, Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage were invited.
We look forward to the 46th Bob Hope Classic, which begins tomorrow January 26-30, 2005, and raising more charitable funds for the Coachella Valley. For Classic information, call 760) 346-8184 or 1-888-MR B HOPE or visit www.bhcc.com.
