LA QUINTA HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS TEAMS TO SELL DAILY GALLERY PASSES FOR 51st BOB HOPE CLASSIC, JAN. 18-24

LA QUINTA, Calif. - As a fundraiser, six sports teams from La Quinta High School will sell daily gallery passes for the 51st Bob Hope Classic, Jan. 18-24.

Beginning Monday, Dec. 7, athletes representing the school's football, boys' basketball, baseball, boys' golf, girls' golf and track teams will sell the passes for $25, with all the proceeds being donated to the respective team by the Bob Hope Classic.

"We are very excited to be participating with the La Quinta High School sports teams on our ticket sales drive," said Bob Hope Classic Tournament Director Michael Milthorpe. "We feel this is a win-win for the school and the Classic."

"This is a fundraiser for the individual teams and will definitely help them to continue to compete," said Joe Simonds, La Quinta High School boys' golf coach. "Since the state cutbacks, the sports teams need to find a way to make up the deficit and this program is a great way to be active in our community and help ourselves as well."

Pat Perez is defending champion of the Classic. Practice rounds for the 2010 Classic at all four courses - SilverRock Resort, La Quinta Country Club, Nicklaus Private at PGA WEST, Palmer Private at PGA WEST - will be conducted Monday, Jan. 18 and Tuesday, Jan. 19. Tournament play begins Wednesday, Jan. 20 and concludes Sunday, Jan. 24 at the Palmer Private at PGA WEST. The five-day Classic features 128 top PGA TOUR professionals and 384 amateur contestants, including 30 celebrities. All five days of the Classic will be televised on Golf Channel. At stake is a purse of $5 million - $900,000 to the winner.
